Chastity devices might look modern, but the idea of sexual restraint has existed for centuries. Although medieval iron belts are mostly myth, real chastity devices first appeared in the 1800s as “anti-masturbation” tools during the Victorian moral panic.
By the 20th century, they evolved into symbols of power exchange and erotic denial in BDSM culture. Today, chastity is less about control and more about trust, intimacy, and consensual play.
